Seachem Reef Calcium is a scientifically formulated solution that contains concentrated (50,000 mg/L) bioavailable polygluconate complexed calcium, which is an essential compound found in reef aquaria. Conveniently, the solution will not alter sensitive pH balances, and as it contains no phosphorus or nitrogen, cannot contribute to algae growth in well established marine tanks. This process of polygluconate complexation provides many benefits to delicate reef-based aquariums, such as increasing the bioavailability of the calcium, offering an optimal source of metabolic energy designed for maintaining optimal coral growth and preventing calcium precipitation/alkalinity depletion. It is important to note that whenever coral absorbs any molecule into its tissue, same amount of energy is used regardless of the size of the molecule itself. But, charged molecules require more energy to absorb than uncharged molecules. When an uncharged molecule is absorbed, the coral has the chance to gain multiple calcium atoms at the same time in addition to an easily metabolized carbohydrate using even less energy than it took for the ionic calcium uptake. Due to this, corals living with lower calcium levels can still take in as much calcium through the organic chains as they would at much higher levels of ionic calcium. Seachem Reef Calcium uses a chained organic calcium instead of an ionic calcium and can be used independently as a way to effectively maintain calcium and offers improved coral growth rates when used in combination with an ionic calcium supplement. If the calcium levels within your aquarium become dangerously low, quickly do a water change or use an ionic calcium supplement to restore the depleted level of calcium.Comes in a 500 ml container.

Instructions:

Add 1 capful (5 mL) per 80 L (20 US gallons) of aquarium water twice a week. You can increase the amount or frequency based on the growth and development of the corals in response, but be careful not to exceed 3 capfuls per 80 L (20 gallons) per day. Each capful will raise calcium by about 3 mg/L.
